Our 8 year old daughter enjoyed her recent auditing very much.

Lots of wins but here’s my favourite:

My daughter had been receiving daily sessions for about 1 week with you.

Normally when it’s bed time she will procrastinate and find every conceivable reason or distraction for “why it isn’t time to go to bed” or “I don’t want to wear those pyjama’s” or “I’m hungry”, “I’m thirsty “, or “I brushed my teeth this morning!”

Anyway, this night she complied rapidly with my requests. After completing her teeth she looked at me earnestly & rather bewildered and said “I can’t believe I’m doing what your telling me to do?”

I smiled but contained my amusement and continued on with brushing my teeth as though it was very normal behaviour from her. She walked out and got into bed and under the covers.

She then said, “Dad, I’m thinking of a word and it starts with L…. the next letter is O…. the next one is V…”

I said, “Is it LOVE?”

She smiled at me lovingly and threw her arms out for me to come and be hugged, and said “I love you daddy…I love my family.”

She was sound asleep within 5 minutes.

You can’t ask for much more than that as a parent. It’s these kind of priceless moments that make being a parent so special.

Announcement:

Max is a new person.

It’s like day and night from who he was before he went to Mace Kingsley.

Max is taking responsibility more than ever. Caring and being so much more present.

Max is progressing in school. They say that he is very interested to learn now, more than before.

Max on the other hand, thinks that school is too slow.

“They are doing things too slow.”

He wants to learn faster.

I have for over a year gotten up early in the mornings to make sure that he gets up in time for school and that he prepares himself, and then the taxi picks him up for school.

Suddenly one day Max said to me, “I don’t need you to get up with me in the morning anymore.”  I said, “Oh! All right .” (Shocked).

In the morning I went up anyway to see if he would do as he had said the other night. I was just about to get down the stairs when he peaked out his head from his room telling me to get back to bed! He can take care of himself.

I was stunned and amazed. Smiling, I went back to sleep. For me those mornings have been hard for me, since I come home from work very late in the night so this was absolutely fantastic. He has now been doing this for two months by himself and he had not missed the taxi once!

The other day I and Max were in the store. He looked at a sign saying “discount” (he can’t read) and he asked me if that is an offer. “No, it’s a discount”, I told him.

“What is that?”  And I explained what a discount is and the difference of an offer and a discount. He had the biggest smile and clapped his hands to demonstrate his happiness. – “Now I understand, thank you!”

Max has never had any interest in his surroundings like this.

You at Mace Kingsley have opened up his space and a brand new world for him.

Now he comprehends like never before.

He is asking questions like this all the time.

I love you all tremendously for the help that my brother could get! I didn’t know what to expect really when I came, but this is a never ending story with such changes in him and the small wins that he gets all the time.

Oh my, it is so cool and touching.

Another very cool thing is that we are about to move to another house and Max told me that the house just has to have a bubble bath [Jacuzzi] in it.

 “I will see, Max…I will do my best,” I said.

But the thing is when I have been looking for houses, I didn’t find any house that does not have a Jacuzzi/bubble bath or a swimming pool!

So finally we now have a house with a bubble bath!

There you go! Max postulating!!

I will for sure fight to get him back in session soon.

So Max will be coming up soon in a Mace Kingsley close to you!
